Following a teaser from Ed Boon hinting at an imminent Mortal Kombat 1 update just before the weekend, NetherRealm Studios has unveiled a gameplay trailer featuring Quan Chi, the upcoming addition to the MK1 roster. Quan Chi is set to make his debut on December 14.
The trailer showcases the sorcerer’s unique abilities, emphasizing his capacity to summon portals to the NetherRealm and skillfully utilize them for teleportation and special attacks. One notable scene features a massive tentacle emerging from a portal to forcefully slam Quan Chi’s opponent onto the ground, while another depicts Quan Chi himself leaping through a portal and landing atop his adversary.
The upcoming Kameo fighter, Khameleon, takes center stage in the video, showcasing a blend of moves inspired by some of Mortal Kombat’s iconic femme fatales—Kitana, Mileena, and Jade—adding her prowess to assist Quan Chi in battle. The trailer concludes with a brief preview of the next downloadable character, DC Comics’ Peacemaker, portrayed both in likeness and voice by John Cena. teaser from Ed Boon
For early access, Quan Chi will be available through the Kombat Pass on December 14 across all platforms. Subsequently, he can be purchased separately starting December 21. Khameleon is set to join the Kameo roster in January, while Peacemaker is scheduled for inclusion in February.
Mortal Kombat 1 is currently accessible on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Kombat Pass offers entry to characters like Omni-Man, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Homelander, and Takeda. It is available for individual purchase and as part of MK1’s premium editions.
While Mortal Kombat 1 players have seen some of Quan Chi’s capabilities in the campaign mode, the evil sorcerer confirmed for the Kombat Pass has yet to be fully shown off. That will change this weekend, as MK series creator Ed Boon has confirmed that the Quan Chi reveal trailer is on its way.
