The NBA has announced

The NBA has announced a five-game suspension for Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green following his involvement in a skirmish with the Minnesota Timberwolves during Tuesday’s game. The suspension will result in Green missing key matchups against the Oklahoma City Thunder twice, the Houston Rockets, the Phoenix Suns, and the San Antonio Spurs.

The altercation unfolded just 1:43 into the game when a scuffle erupted between Warriors guard Klay Thompson and Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels at midcourt. Both players were seen grabbing each other’s jerseys. Shortly thereafter, Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert, who seemed to intervene to quell the conflict, found himself grabbed around the neck by Green before players and coaches stepped in to diffuse the situation. As a consequence of their roles in the incident, Thompson, McDaniels, and Gobert have each been fined $25,000. The game itself, a 104-101 victory for the Timberwolves, saw Green, Thompson, and McDaniels ejected.

More challenging. They’ll face the Thunder twice this week and then close out a six-game homestand with the surging Rockets. Then it’s a road game in Phoenix before an In-Season Tournament game against the Spurs the day after Thanksgiving. Those are the five. The first of those — against the Thunder on Thursday night — will also be without Steph Curry, who is nursing a sore knee and will miss at least one more game.
