The upcoming Monday night clash in San Francisco is highly anticipated, especially as the Baltimore Ravens currently boasting one of the best records in the NFL, find themselves in the underdog position for only the second time this season. However, this designation hasn’t resonated well with some members of the team, reflecting the competitive spirit within the Ravens’ locker room.
“We feel a little disrespected by that,” Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton said. “I feel like we are the best team in the league, and we have an opportunity in front of the country to show it.”
The Ravens, with an 11-3 record, find themselves as 5.5-point underdogs against the 11-3 San Francisco 49ers, as reported by ESPN BET. Notably, this marks the second-largest underdog role in quarterback Lamar Jackson’s six-year career. the Baltimore Ravens
The only other instance where Jackson and the Ravens faced a larger underdog status was in 2018 against the Kansas City Chiefs, where they were seven-point underdogs. In that game, the Ravens fell to the Chiefs 27-24 in overtime, making it Jackson’s fourth career NFL start.
Expressing his preference for the underdog status, Jackson stated, “I like being the underdog. I believe we play better when we’re doubted and [when] people aren’t choosing us to win the game. I feel like we play better all the time, so just do it all the way to February. That’s all I ask.”
Jackson has been favored in 62 of 75 career regular-season starts (82.7%). He is 9-4 (.692) outright as an underdog.
Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey said the size of the spread against San Francisco “hurt my feelings a little bit.”
“I was surprised to see that,” Humphrey said. “But I definitely want to make that incorrect for sure. And hopefully some people lose some money betting with them and make some money betting with us.
