The average American checks their phone approximately 96 times per day, equating to once every 10 minutes. To help users cope with such frequent usage and extend their battery life, a former Apple employee, Tyler Morgan, shared some battery-saving hacks.

Morgan, known as @hitomidocameraroll on TikTok, who previously worked in sales at Apple, gained attention for revealing tips and tricks to optimize battery power. One key recommendation he shared was to avoid charging an iPhone to 100% or overnight. Instead, he advised allowing the battery to reach only 80%, as constantly reaching a full charge can lead to chemical aging and affect overall battery health.

“Go to settings, battery, battery health and charging, turn [charging optimization] on. If you wanna be real cautious, put it to 80% limit,” Morgan said as he walked users through the process.

Tyler Morgan also provided battery-saving recommendations such as turning off background activity. Users can do this by navigating to Settings, then General, and clicking into Background App Refresh. Morgan highlighted that apps running in the background use battery power to stay updated, but users can adjust settings to update only on Wi-Fi or when opened. The average American

Additionally, he suggested turning off location services for apps that are not actively in use. Users can manage this by going to Settings, then Privacy and Security, and selecting Location Services. Within Location Services, users can choose which apps have permission to use location services at specific times, optimizing battery life by minimizing unnecessary location tracking.
