Connor Stalions, the Michigan Wolverines football staffer at the center of the program’s sign-stealing scandal, has resigned, according to a statement from the school.
Michigan Athletics announced the resignation of Connor Stalions from his position. Their statement read, “Connor Stalions resigned his position with Michigan Athletics this afternoon. We are unable to comment further regarding this personnel matter.”
Before Michigan released their statement, several reports indicated that Stalions had been terminated.
As per The Athletic, Stalions “refused to cooperate with any internal or external investigations or discussions.” The Associated Press reported that he “failed to show up for a scheduled hearing Friday and informed the school through his attorney he would not participate in any internal or external investigations.” the Michigan Wolverines
Connor Stalions faced accusations of purchasing tickets to games against Michigan’s Big Ten Conference rivals and potential future College Football Playoff opponents. He was alleged to have engaged in scouting and recording video, with the intent of decoding their in-game signals to provide the Wolverines with a competitive advantage, a practice that contravenes NCAA rules. In response to these allegations, Stalions chose to resign, and his attorney, Brad Beckworth, stated, “As he informed the school earlier today, Connor chose to resign because recent stories regarding his time with the University of Michigan have created a distraction for the team.”
