A male individual has lost his life, and a woman sustained injuries following a shooting incident this Saturday within the premises of Paddock Mall in Ocala, Florida – just two days prior to Christmas Day, as reported by the Ocala Police Department.
Law enforcement swiftly reacted to the alarming situation, receiving 911 calls indicating a series of gunshots at the mall around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday. Although initial reports suggested an “active shooting situation,” the police clarified later that it wasn’t a case of an active shooter. Instead, it seemed to be a targeted shooting incident that transpired in a communal area within the mall.
The deceased individual discovered within the mall has been identified as 40-year-old David Nathaniel Barron. Additionally, a woman was located with a gunshot wound to her leg and was promptly transported to the hospital, with police characterizing her injury as non-life-threatening.
