The United States has leveled accusations against Iran, alleging its significant involvement in attacks carried out by Houthi rebels on commercial ships in the Red Sea. The White House, presenting newly declassified intelligence on Friday, claimed that Tehran supports the Yemeni rebel group not only with weapons but also with tactical intelligence.
This comes in the wake of reports indicating another strike on an Israel-affiliated merchant vessel. Despite these allegations, Iran has consistently denied any involvement in such activities.
“We know that Iran was deeply involved in planning the operations against commercial vessels in the Red Sea,” White House national security spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a statement.
