Tesla has reportedly informed

Tesla has reportedly informed workers at its battery factory in Sparks, Nevada, about upcoming pay increases for some set-rate hourly workers starting in early January 2024. According to internal materials obtained by CNBC, these pay adjustments, framed as “cost of living adjustments,” will result in a 10% or greater raise for most hourly workers. The pay for hourly workers at the low end will increase from $20 to $22 an hour, and those at the high end will see an increase from $30.65 to $34.50 an hour.

Additionally, Tesla is streamlining pay levels, adjusting several workers currently earning between $26.20 and $30.65 an hour to $34.50 an hour. These adjustments aim to enhance compensation for workers and may potentially mitigate interest in unionization efforts. The United Auto Workers (UAW) has expressed plans to extend its efforts to non-unionized automakers, including Tesla, following successful negotiations with major Detroit automakers earlier in the year. Tesla has not provided immediate comment on the reported raises. Tesla has reportedly informed

In late October, workers at Tesla service and collision repair centers in Sweden touched off a labor strike that has now spread to Denmark, Finland and Norway and includes workers involved in shipping, waste management and providing other services to Tesla. In recent weeks, one of Denmark’s largest pension funds announced that it would sell its holdings of Tesla stock over the U.S. giant’s refusal to enter into agreements with labor unions.

Tesla’s commitment to a substantial cost of living adjustment for workers at the Nevada Gigafactory coincides with the company facing heightened competition for talent. Additionally, CEO Elon Musk’s public statements and posts on X (formerly Twitter) have sparked a series of controversies. The combination of these factors underscores the complex landscape Tesla navigates, balancing talent retention and attraction with the challenges posed by the CEO’s public communications.
