The Democratic lawmaker is advocating for an “independent investigation” and maintains their assertion that Israel might be responsible for the explosion at the Gaza hospital.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Michigan, reiterated her stance on the situation in the Gaza Strip, despite earlier reports being debunked by Israeli and U.S. intelligence. She expressed support for an independent investigation, citing doubts raised by media outlets and third-party analysts regarding both Israeli and Gaza Ministry of Health claims. Tlaib also referenced the World Health Organization’s confirmation of Israeli attacks on medical facilities and reports from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society about ongoing threats from the Israeli military.

Furthermore, she pointed to historical instances where both the Israeli and U.S. governments had been accused of misleading the public in the context of wars and war crimes, such as the assassination of Shireen Abu Akleh and the claims of weapons of mass destruction leading to the Iraq War. Tlaib emphasized the need for an independent international investigation and urged for a ceasefire to protect innocent civilian lives. The Democratic lawmaker

Last week, Tlaib swiftly criticized Israel in response to initial reports of an Israeli airstrike that allegedly resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinian civilians at a Gaza hospital.

“Israel just targeted the Baptist Hospital, claiming the lives of 500 Palestinians, including doctors, children, and patients,” Tlaib wrote on X. “@POTUS, this tragic incident underscores the consequences of your refusal to promote a ceasefire and de-escalation. Your reliance on a strategy of war and destruction has caused me, as well as numerous Palestinian Americans and Muslim Americans, to reconsider our perspectives. We will remember your position on this matter.”
