Hamas militants breached the barriers surrounding Gaza on a Saturday morning, launching a multi-pronged assault on Israeli territory by land, sea, and air. They employed mechanized hang gliders and motorcycles to swiftly invade communities that were caught completely off guard.

These militants traversed the streets aboard pickup trucks equipped with mounted turrets, firing indiscriminately at civilians going about their daily routines, including women with infants and innocent bystanders, resulting in tragic casualties.

Additionally, Hamas unleashed a barrage of over 3,000 rockets from Gaza into various towns and cities in southern Israel, intensifying the chaos and destruction.

While Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system managed to intercept the majority of the rockets, a significant intelligence lapse on the part of Israeli authorities allowed Hamas to successfully infiltrate and seize large portions of territory in the southern region of Israel.

In the skies above the Supernova Festival, which was taking place near the kibbutz of Re’im, located approximately 3 miles from the Gaza border, the rockets served as the initial ominous sign of the impending tragedy.

According to Israeli authorities, the festival witnessed a devastating toll, with at least 260 individuals losing their lives. Disturbing videos surfaced, showing Israelis desperately fleeing on foot across the desert, and some unfortunate attendees being kidnapped and transported back to Gaza.

One of the festivalgoers, Noam Manket, recounted that those attempting to escape in their vehicles came under fire from Hamas gunmen. She made her escape on foot and remains in the dark about the whereabouts and well-being of some of her closest friends who had also attended the festival with her.

“You just keep running because you realize that if you don’t keep running, then you don’t go back home,” she told ABC News.

More than 100 Israeli citizens and soldiers are believed to have been taken hostage in Gaza. In a statement, Hamas has threatened to execute the hostages as a response to the devastating bombardment of the Gaza Strip, which was launched in retaliation for the surprise attack. President Biden stated on Monday that at least 11 Americans are among those killed, and there is concern that more may have been kidnapped and held hostage in Gaza. Yom Kippur War of 1973

Many families discovered that their loved ones had been kidnapped through videos shared on social media.

One of those abducted was Karina Ashaev. Her sister, Sasha, described her initial shock upon seeing a video online that showed Karina bound and covered in blood while being taken away on a motorcycle.

“At first, I saw this and didn’t think it was her. I just swiped to the next video,” Sasha recounted to ABC News foreign correspondent James Longman. “Her whole face was covered in blood, she was screaming. We identified her by her nose, her brows, her chest. And then we knew it was her.”
