Victoria Beckham opens up about a challenging period in her marriage to David Beckham, addressing his alleged affair, which had been widely discussed but denied by the couple during his time at Real Madrid in 2003.
In a recently released Netflix documentary titled “Beckham,” Victoria candidly shares her thoughts on this tumultuous time. And describing it as the “hardest period” in their marriage. She reflects on how it felt like the world was against them, stating, “Here’s the thing – we were against each other if I’m completely honest.”
While the documentary does not delve into the specifics of the alleged affair. And Victoria acknowledges the strain it put on their relationship. She mentions that before their time in Madrid, they often felt like a united front against external pressures, but the situation changed during their stint in Spain. And causing a sense of disconnection.
Victoria Beckham opens and expressed the profound impact this period had on her, stating, “I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me.”
Discussing the media scrutiny they faced after Victoria and her children relocated to join her husband in Spain, she remarked, “It was a living nightmare. The moment we arrived, the press descended upon us. And trailing our every move, whether we were in our car or out and about.”
“It felt like an absolute circus – you know, it’s usually quite entertaining when the circus comes to town, right? Unless you’re the one inside it.”
When questioned whether she had harbored resentment toward her husband during that period. And the singer-turned-designer candidly admitted, “If I’m being completely honest, yes, I did. It was, to be frank, perhaps the unhappiest I’ve ever been in my entire life.”
In the documentary series, David Beckham, the former England. And Manchester United midfielder who is now the owner of Inter Miami. Also opened up about the impact of rumors surrounding his alleged extramarital affairs on himself and his family.
He acknowledged, “There were some dreadful stories that were incredibly challenging to cope with. It marked the first instance in which Victoria and I had experienced such intense pressure in our marriage.”
Reflecting on that period, he expressed, “I think both of us felt, not that we were drifting apart. But rather that we were struggling to stay afloat.”
He went on to say, “Honestly, I’m not sure how we managed to navigate through it.”
