Bryan Tanaka has opened up about his breakup with Mariah Carey, sharing a detailed statement on social media regarding their split. In the Instagram message posted on Tuesday (Dec. 26), the 40-year-old backup dancer describes the separation as a “mutual” decision.
Tanaka’s statement reads, “Dear friends and fans, with mixed emotions, I share this personal update regarding my amicable separation from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together. Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound respect and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we’ve shared. Mariah Carey, 54, and Bryan Tanaka began working together in 2006 during Tanaka’s appearance as a member of Carey’s Adventures of Mimi tour. The relationship was officially confirmed by Carey in a February 2017 Associated Press interview, where she referred to him as her “boyfriend.” Their romance was also featured on Carey’s E! reality series, Mariah’s World.
