Over the weekend, the Israeli military reported that more than a dozen of its soldiers lost their lives in clashes in the Gaza Strip. The fatalities occurred in central and southern Gaza, with four soldiers killed when their vehicle was hit by an anti-tank missile, and another soldier succumbing to fire from the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah in northern Israel. The total number of soldiers killed since the start of Israel’s ground offensive now stands at 152.

Since October 7, when Hamas launched a significant attack against Israel, resulting in Israel initiating a ground operation, the overall death toll surpasses 20,000 people in Gaza and Israel. Civilians continue to be tragically caught in the crossfire, with thousands wounded, and some taken hostage by Hamas, experiencing rape, torture, or murder. the Israeli military reported

A massive group of pro-Palestinian protesters in Chicago confronted lawmakers at their homes on Saturday and temporarily shut down an interstate to express support for Palestinians in Gaza

The “U.S. Palestinian Community Network” led a group that initially protested at the residence of U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., in Evanston, as stated on their Instagram. They also confronted U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., at his Chicago home, chanting “Long live Palestine!” The demonstrators advocated for a ceasefire and increased support for Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict between Israeli forces and Hamas. Durbin engaged with the protesters, committing to do more for Palestinian civilians without specifying details. Subsequently, a convoy of nearly 100 vehicles proceeded to O’Hare International Airport, causing disruptions on I-190 and Manheim Road, leading to a temporary standstill in traffic on both sides of the interstate.
