In northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, a suicide bomber targeted a police station’s main gate, detonating an explosive-laden vehicle and resulting in a tragic incident. At least 23 troops lost their lives, 32 were wounded, and a section of the building collapsed due to the impact, according to authorities.
This attack, among the deadliest in recent months in Pakistan, not only claimed lives but also caused damage to nearby businesses and shops. Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan, a newly formed militant group believed to be linked to the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the assault.
In response to the attack on the police station, the military and local police engaged in a prolonged shootout with six additional assailants involved in the assault. The confrontation continued for hours until all six attackers were eventually neutralized.

The city, a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban, recently saw a significant deployment of security forces from across Pakistan for intelligence operations against militants in collaboration with local police, according to Kamal Khan, a local officer.
The Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan, the militant offshoot claiming responsibility for the attack, stated that its target was officers present at the police station during the assault.
