Yoga instructor Kaitlin Armstrong is accused of fatally shooting her romantic rival in the heart as the professional cyclist cried out in fear, according to the prosecution’s opening statements.
In the courtroom, Armstrong, 35, who had fled to Costa Rica following the alleged incident involving a love triangle, appeared solemn. She was dressed in a blue button-down shirt and a dark blazer as the opening statements were delivered.
Travis County Prosecutor Rickey Jones recounted the chilling moment when Anna Moriah Wilson, known as Mo, let out her final screams as Armstrong allegedly fired multiple shots while standing over her.
“The last sound Mo made on this planet was a scream of terror,” Jones told the jurors, emphasizing that those harrowing screams would be presented as evidence.
During the court proceedings, audio recording of the alleged murder was played, though it remains uncertain whether Wilson’s cries were discernible in the recording.

Despite the heart-wrenching opening statements, Armstrong’s lawyers reiterated that no video evidence or witnesses can place the defendant at the scene of the murder.
The redhead is accused of murdering Wilson after finding out her boyfriend Colin Strickland had allegedly had a relationship with the other cyclist behind her back.
