The timing couldn’t have been better: With Halloween approaching , it was a spooky “Harry Potter”-themed episode of “The Masked Singer” this week, so it was only appropriate that “Teen Wolf” star Tyler Posey would be the next celebrity to be unmasked in Season 10.
Posey’s identity as Hawk was unveiled after his performance of “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by The Police this week. In an interview with Variety, Posey shared his perspective on the experience, saying, “I have this checklist of random weird things that you only get to experience once in a lifetime, and this fit right in with that. This is just a fun, interesting, random, bizarre experience that I was just completely down to do. It’s also challenging. I’ve always been sort of awkward when it comes to choreographed dancing. And claustrophobia is a little weird for me. The whole experience was something that I really wanted to kind of push myself through and give it my all.”
In the recent episode, none of the panelists correctly guessed Hawk’s identity, although their guesses were quite close. Ken Jeong suggested Cole Sprouse, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg thought it might be Chad Michael Murray, Robin Thicke guessed Ryan Phillippe, and Nicole Scherzinger went with Billie Joe Armstrong.
Reflecting on the panelists’ guesses, Hawk, who is Tyler Posey, shared, “I thought the producers did a pretty good job at keeping me sort of vague with the hint. I was flattered with who they guessed. There were a lot of idols of mine in those guesses like Billie Joe Armstrong and Pete Wentz. I thought that was really sweet that they thought that I could have been one of them.”
The episode featured a showdown between the two singers with the fewest votes, Tiki and Hawk. They performed their own version of “Monster” by Lady Gaga. Tiki advanced to the next week, while Hawk was unmasked.
Had he continued on the show, Posey revealed that he was considering performing a Backstreet Boys song for his next performance.
He expressed his excitement about finally being able to share his participation in the show with his friends, saying, “I was really excited to have myself be exposed finally so I can spill the beans with all my friends and be like, ‘guess what I’ve been doing the past few months.’ Even though I wish that I went further, I’m ready to tell everybody.” With Halloween approaching
