“I can hardly believe we’ve survived to see another day,” said Arwa, a 33-year-old Gaza resident, speaking to Middle East Eye. Her home in the Rimal neighborhood was targeted with only minutes of warning, prompting her and her family to seek shelter in the basement of a nearby building.
“We witnessed death, right before our eyes,” she recounted. “The sky lit up with an ominous red glow, and the acrid smell of gunpowder enveloped us. Debris from shattered buildings and broken glass covered everything. The onslaught seemed relentless. Women wept, children screamed. When morning arrived, I dared to venture out to assess the remains of my apartment, only to find it obliterated.”
