Google has unveiled a slew of cutting-edge AI-powered features for its latest Pixel 8 series smartphones. Among these innovations is the Magic Editor, designed to revolutionize photo editing by facilitating background filling and subject repositioning. Additionally, there’s the Best Take function, which seamlessly blends multiple shots to generate the most exceptional group photos.
Magic Editor offers a remarkable capability where users can simply tap or encircle an object, allowing for effortless shifting and resizing. The magic truly happens as generative AI steps in to recreate the background seamlessly when the selected object is adjusted. This feature also provides users with preset options to modify the background according to their preferences.
Furthermore, Magic Editor is equipped to provide context-aware recommendations for image enhancements, taking into account factors like lighting and background. Users will even have the luxury of selecting from multiple edit results, making their editing experience more versatile and intuitive. It’s worth noting that this groundbreaking feature initially introduced at the Google I/O event in May.
Google has acknowledged that the Magic Editor feature is currently in its “early stages,” implying that some final results may not entirely align with user expectations.
As for the Best Take feature, it offers an ingenious solution for group photos. It combines multiple shots to ensure that no one is blinking or looking away in the final image. Users can opt for the auto-generated version or exercise greater control by cherry-picking expressions from various shots and seamlessly merging them. Essentially, it allows for a swap of faces from the original photo with the chosen expressions, delivering a comprehensive and customizable approach to group photo perfection.
Both the Best Take and Magic Editor functionalities will become accessible to users of the Pixel 8 series of smartphones starting from October 12.
The upcoming Pixel 8 phones will introduce features such as Magic Eraser for eliminating unwanted objects from photos and Photo Unblur to rectify blurry elements in images. Google has revealed that the Pixel 8 Pro will offer an enhanced version of Magic Eraser. And enabling users to seamlessly remove larger objects from their images. AI-powered features
Additionally, the company has announced a novel feature for the Pixel 8 Pro, known as Zoom Enhance. This innovative capability harnesses generative AI to apply corrective enhancements.
