Al Jazeera reported the tragic loss of two Palestinian journalists, Hamza Wael Dahdouh and Mustafa Thuria, who lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike targeting their vehicle in Gaza.
Wael al-Dahdouh, an Al Jazeera journalist in Gaza, experienced a devastating turn of events on Sunday. Following the loss of his wife and two other children in an Israeli bombardment during the conflict with Hamas militants, his son Hamza Wael Dahdouh, also an Al Jazeera journalist, fell victim to an Israeli strike. The Qatar-based media network asserted that it was a “targeted killing.”

Wael al-Dahdouh himself sustained injuries in a recent strike. In December, he was wounded in an Israeli strike that also claimed the life of Al Jazeera cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa.
Since the onset of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, the Qatar-based channel has tragically lost three journalists. A poignant video posted on an Al Jazeera-affiliated YouTube channel captured Wael Al-Dahdouh crying beside his son’s lifeless body, holding his hand. Following his son’s burial, he emphasized in televised remarks that Gaza journalists would persist in their work, stating, “All the world needs to see what is happening here.”
