On Wednesday, a coalition of 13 countries led by the United States issued a stern warning to Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. The coalition asserted that there would be consequences if the Houthi rebels persisted in their attacks in the Red Sea. The statement reflects the collective stance of the coalition, signaling a united front against the destabilizing actions of the Houthi rebels in the region.

The U.S. was joined by the U.K., Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore and New Zealand in Wednesday’s statement. The nations said that the destabilization of trade throughout the Red Sea is “unacceptable” and vowed consequences.

The nations in the U.S.-led coalition emphasized their stance on the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, denouncing them as illegal, unacceptable, and profoundly destabilizing. They explicitly stated that there is no legal justification for deliberately targeting civilian shipping and naval vessels. 

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles, small boats, and missiles, including the deployment of anti-ship ballistic missiles, in attacks on vessels, including commercial ones, poses a direct threat to the freedom of navigation.  a stern warning
