Dow Jones futures rose

Dow Jones futures rose modestly Thursday morning, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures. Micron Technology (MU) reported Wednesday night, with big implications for chip-gear makers like Applied Materials (AMAT). Dow giant Boeing rallied on China hopes.

The stock market rally initially showed modest gains but eventually experienced substantial losses across major indexes, with numerous leading stocks trending lower.

Alphabet, the parent company of Google (GOOGL), initially broke out on Wednesday with significant trading volume following reports of a potential restructuring in ad sales. However, these gains were later pared as the broader market faced declines. In the transportation sector, Saia (SAIA) and Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) displayed buy signals during the trading day.

On the flip side, Tesla (TSLA) saw a decline below an early entry point, triggered by a Reuters report suggesting that the electric vehicle giant had attributed parts failures to drivers, despite being aware of long-standing defects. Additionally, there are indications that Norway is nearing a decision on a substantial recall related to suspension issues.

MU stock experienced a surge in premarket trading following Micron’s report of a fiscal Q1 loss that was smaller than anticipated. Additionally, the company disclosed a 16% increase in sales, marking a departure from the significant year-over-year declines witnessed in the past five quarters. Micron, a major player in the memory-chip industry, also provided an optimistic guidance for the current Q2. Despite a 4.2% decline to $78.69 in Wednesday’s regular session, Micron’s stock remains near its 52-week high.

Chip equipment manufacturers Applied Materials (AMAT), KLA Corp. (KLAC), and Lam Research (LRCX) experienced marginal increases in overnight trading. Despite a 3% decline for all three companies on the preceding Wednesday, they are currently trading near their 52-week highs.
