Israel has announced the initiation of a military police investigation following the release of videos by an Israeli human rights group. The footage suggested that Israeli troops were involved in the killing of two Palestinians in the West Bank, one of whom was incapacitated, and the other unarmed, during a military operation in a West Bank refugee camp.
The human rights organization, B’Tselem, has accused the Israeli army of conducting two “illegal executions.” Security camera recordings depict two Israeli military vehicles pursuing a group of Palestinians in the Faraa refugee camp in the northern West Bank. In the footage, a man, identified as 25-year-old Rami Jundob, who appears to be holding a red canister, is shot by soldiers.
Subsequently, the military Jeep approaches Jundob, who is lying injured on the ground, and fires multiple shots until he is motionless. The soldiers then approach another man, identified by B’Tselem as 36-year-old Thaar Shahin, who is hiding under the hood of a car. The soldiers shoot him from close range.
According to B’Tselem, Shahin was killed instantly, while Jundob succumbed to his wounds the following day. The military police investigation has been launched in response to the serious allegations raised by the human rights group and the compelling video evidence provided. Israel has announced
