Mohammadi, known for her advocacy against the mandatory hijab and the death penalty in Iran, has been held in Tehran’s Evin prison since 2021. Her 17-year-old twins, Ali and Kiana, who have been living in exile in France since 2015, received the Nobel Peace Prize on her behalf. They read a speech that Mohammadi managed to smuggle out of her prison cell, emphasizing her continued commitment to the cause despite her incarceration.
