Israeli prisons without facing

Following eight months in Israeli prisons without facing charges or due process, 18-year-old Mohammad Salhab Tamimi has been reunited with his family as part of an ongoing prisoner exchange agreement.

As he embraced his parents, Mohammad’s boyish face bore a serious expression. Standing amidst the emotional reunion, he seemed slightly bewildered, perhaps uncertain about addressing the press after his release.

He had faced numerous challenges over the past eight months of uncertainty, experiencing torment that intensified since the initiation of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation on October 7.

The stern Israeli prison guards, in their final communication with him, warned that any display of celebration by his family and friends would result in his rearrest and a return to the ambiguous state of administrative detention.

Recalling their words, he shared, “They told me, ‘Tell your friends…’ If there’s a grand celebration, I’ll be sent back to prison.” Israeli prisons without facing

Luckily for the family, smiles don’t make any noise, and nobody could stop the smiles on his mother Fatima and father Murshid’s faces as they held tightly to their “little boy”.

Their boy was among the fourth batch of Palestinian prisoners to be released from Ofer prison near Ramallah in the small hours of Tuesday overnight. Up to the last minute, he had not been sure what was happening to him.
