The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has announced the apprehension of the last of four inmates who escaped from a central Georgia county jail last month. Joey Fournier, 52, of Macon, accused of murder, was captured near Stockbridge, Georgia, just before noon on Saturday.

Fournier will be returned to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center later today, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Bibb County Sheriff David Davis expressed gratitude for the efforts of law enforcement officers from various agencies, stating, “We are grateful that this last escapee has been captured. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to all of the hard-working law enforcement officers.”

The escape occurred in the early hours of October 16 when the four inmates managed to flee through a damaged window in an interview room and a cut in a fence at the Bibb County Detention Center. It was reported that during the escape, someone in a blue Dodge Challenger in the parking lot appeared to assist. The return of the inmates to custody concludes a month-long manhunt. The news release did not provide details about the circumstances of Fournier’s capture or whether he received assistance during his escape. The earlier capture of another escapee, Johnifer Dernard Barnwell, took place at a residence in Augusta, Georgia, where a substantial quantity of drugs was also discovered. Barnwell was initially held for the US Marshals Service, facing federal charges related to the armed distribution of drugs at the time of his escape.

The two other inmates, Chavis Demaryo Stokes, 29, and Marc Kerry Anderson, 25, were caught in Montezuma, and Atlanta, Georgia, respectively.
