A tragic incident unfolded on Friday at New Hampshire’s state psychiatric hospital, where a shooter killed a security guard in the facility’s lobby before being fatally shot by a state trooper, according to officials.
The shooting, confined to the front lobby of the 185-bed New Hampshire Hospital, occurred around 3:30 p.m. State Police Col. Mark Hall provided details at a news conference, noting that despite attempts at CPR, the victim succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead at Concord Hospital.
The victim was identified as Bradley Haas, 63, a security officer with the state Department of Safety who was stationed at the front lobby entrance at the time of the incident.

“Investigators with the New Hampshire State Police have searched and cleared a suspicious box truck near the scene. They determined the truck poses no safety risk,” the statement from the attorney general’s office said.
No further information was released about the shooter, a possible motive or other details of the attack. But authorities planned to provide an update on the investigation Saturday morning.
