House Republicans unveiled

House Republicans unveiled a $14.3 billion aid package for Israel on Monday, a show of support for the embattled U.S. ally amid its war against Hamas.

To pay for the foreign aid, however, the legislation includes $14.3 billion in cuts to funding for the Internal Revenue Service, a key detail that will likely be a non-starter for Democrats.

This passage discusses proposed cuts that would impact funds allocated in the Democrats’ comprehensive tax, health, and climate bill, known as the Inflation Reduction Act, which was enacted into law last year.

Additionally, it mentions a deviation from the White House’s strategy of combining aid for Ukraine and Israel in a single piece of legislation, potentially making it more challenging to pass the bill.

The legislation in question allocates $4 billion for Israel’s Iron Dome and David’s Sling defense systems, along with another $1.2 billion for the development of the Iron Beam defense system.

It’s worth noting that this legislative package is one of the first bills introduced under the leadership of Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who assumed the position recently. The House Rules Committee is scheduled to review this legislation on Wednesday. House Republicans unveiled

Members from both political parties and chambers have underscored the importance of supporting Israel in its efforts against Hamas. Last week, the House passed a resolution with overwhelming support, expressing solidarity with Israel and condemning Hamas. This resolution was the first piece of legislation to pass during Speaker Johnson’s tenure.
