Tragedy struck Lewiston , Maine, on Wednesday night as a devastating series of events unfolded, leaving at least 22 individuals dead and numerous others wounded. Maine Department of Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck has identified the person of interest as 40-year-old Robert Card from Bowdoin. Card’s status is deemed as armed and dangerous, prompting grave concerns among law enforcement officials.

Robert Card possesses a background that adds complexity to the situation. He holds credentials as a certified firearms instructor and serves as a member of the US Army Reserve. Troublingly, Card had reportedly made threats involving a potential shooting at a National Guard facility located in Saco, Maine. Moreover, there are documented concerns regarding his mental health, including reports of auditory hallucinations.

During a press conference on Wednesday night, Commissioner Sauschuck refrained from disclosing further details regarding Card, stating, “We’re not prepared to go into (Card’s) background.” The situation remains under intense scrutiny, with law enforcement agencies working diligently to apprehend the individual involved and to piece together the full scope of these tragic events.
