Meryl Streep and her husband, Don Gummer, have quietly been living separate lives for over six years, as confirmed by a representative for the renowned actress.
The statement from the representative reads, “Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than six years. While they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart.”
The couple originally tied the knot in 1978 and, during their enduring marriage, welcomed four children into the world: Henry (43), Mamie (40), Grace (37), and Louisa (32).
Henry Wolfe, the eldest among their children, is a musician, while Louisa is notably recognized for her starring role in “The Gilded Age.”
Mamie and Grace have also pursued careers in the entertainment industry, following in their mother’s footsteps. Mamie took on a lead role in the series “Emily Owens, MD,” and Grace has made appearances in popular shows such as “The Newsroom” and “Mr. Robot.”
According to Michael Schulman’s biography, “Her Again: Finding Meryl Streep,” the Academy Award-winning actress first crossed paths with Don Gummer through her brother, following the tragic death of her boyfriend and “Deer Hunter” co-star, John Cazale.
Reports from People magazine indicate that Streep moved into Gummer’s apartment while she was filming “Kramer vs. Kramer,” and their relationship led to marriage just six months after they started dating.
