Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, known for her “family-first” approach, has ended her relationship with a television journalist boyfriend. This decision came after he made inappropriate comments, including gesturing to his genital area, while suggesting a “threesome or foursome” with a co-host, resulting in the suspension of his TV show.
On Friday, Giorgia Meloni used social media to publicly declare her separation from Andrea Giambruno, who also happens to be the father of their 7-year-old daughter.
“My nearly ten-year relationship with Andrea Giambruno comes to an end,” Meloni stated. This announcement followed the viral circulation of a video depicting his inappropriate conduct during a commercial break on the popular Striscia la Notizia program broadcasted on Mediaset, merely two days earlier. has ended her relationship
“I express my gratitude to him for the wonderful years we shared, for the challenges we faced, and for the greatest gift he has given me, our daughter, Ginevra,” Meloni conveyed.
On Friday, Giambruno, through his representative, mentioned that he and Mediaset had come to an agreement to suspend his show following the scandal. He was notably absent from the anchor chair during the Friday afternoon show recording. Mediaset, as reported by CNN affiliate SKY24, stated that they were in the process of “investigating the circumstances” related to Giambruno’s reported behavior.
The video, captured during a commercial break in the presence of a live audience and subsequently shared on the program’s social media platforms and website, shows Giambruno moving around the set. In the video, he can be heard inquiring about the relationship status of a female co-host, to which she responds affirmatively, mentioning that he had previously questioned her about it.
Giorgia Meloni has faced substantial criticism for her emphasis on traditional family values, even though she did not marry Giambruno. She has also drawn criticism for her party’s efforts to restrict the rights of same-sex parents by making surrogacy a criminal offense and removing one parent’s name from birth certificates in cities where her political party holds the majority.
Despite attempts to contact Meloni’s spokespeople, her political party, and Giambruno, there has been no response. The Mediaset public affairs office confirmed the suspension of Giambruno’s show but did not provide a specific reason for it.
