The Turkish government has reported the successful evacuation of 30 of its citizens from Israel.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in a joint statement with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry, mentioned that there are approximately 300 individuals holding dual Turkish-Israeli citizenship in Gaza. He reiterated Turkey’s condemnation of any attacks targeting innocent civilians.

The Israeli Embassy in Turkey, through social media, confirmed that one Turkish citizen had been killed in an attack by Hamas and expressed concerns over another citizen who couldn’t be reached.

Turkey’s foreign minister, Hakan Fidan, expressed strong condemnation for attacks that target innocent civilians and result in their deaths in Palestine. He emphasized the importance of Israel adhering to international law and human values, advocating for peace not only with Arab countries but, crucially, with Palestinians.

Fidan reiterated Turkey’s support for a two-state solution to the conflict, suggesting that the Palestinian issue could be resolved through the establishment of a Palestinian state. He also confirmed that Turkey will continue to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza amidst the ongoing conflict with Israel.

Regarding evacuations, Fidan informed that there are approximately 300 Turkish citizens with dual nationality in Gaza, and 30 of them have been evacuated so far.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry highlighted the common vision between Egypt and Turkey on the significance of addressing the severe humanitarian consequences of the conflict on Palestinians. He pointed out that the shift of the conflict towards military operations occurred due to the failure to achieve the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Hakan Fidan’s visit to Egypt, at the invitation of Sameh Shoukry, included meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. This visit coincides with the ongoing hostilities between Hamas and Israel, with Gaza facing Israeli airstrikes, utility disruptions, and significant displacement of residents.
