Legal representatives for soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo are heading back to court today to engage in a legal dispute concerning. Then the monetary settlement he made in 2010 with a woman who accused him of sexual assault.

At that time, Ronaldo paid Kathryn Mayorga, who has chosen not to remain anonymous, $375,000 (£275,000) in an attempt to maintain confidentiality.

Mayorga had alleged that he sexually assaulted her in a Las Vegas hotel room in June 2009. An accusation Ronaldo vehemently denied.

Her lawyers will appeal to the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse the case’s dismissal. And reopen the civil lawsuit she initially filed in Nevada back in 2018.

In a statement released in October 2018, Ronaldo asserted, “I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in.”

His legal team maintains that the sexual encounter was consensual. As well as that a confidentiality agreement prohibits both parties from discussing it.
